Medicare patient who had 44120/58571/52000 on 09/24/2025; patient admitted during the global period under 99223 female presenting with fluid collection post op from SCH/small bowel resection. Fluid collection. Recurrent rectal cancer. What modifier would be appropriate as patient went back for procedure this day to drain the fluid? I put a 78 modifier on the 99223, however I was told by someone else that it is not appropriate.

Hello,
Modifier- 78 is used for a procedure, not used for evaluation and management ( hospital care ) in this case 99223. My opinion is to use 99223 with mod. 57 or 25 depend on the global.
