Our office is looking into having surgical trays (A4550) added to our payor contracts. Has anyone else had luck getting payment from commercial payors for surgical trays? How were you able to get the trays paid?

Thanks!

Hmmmmm, Marti, from my past experience surgical trays during the normal course of treatment were not separately billable. I had one major insurance company whereas their policy stated they would consider allowing for this but certain qualifications had to be met. We followed their specific criteria when the situation warranted it, and still received denials. I'd like to know what others on here have found to be the case, but am sure it is payer specific, and good luck on getting payers to follow thru. It could be a fight. I think you'll find most bundle.
