We are an outpatient facility and one of our providers removed 2 sutures from a patient's hand. The sutures were placed over a month ago by a different facility/provider. Is the suture removal included in the E/M visit or can I bill 15853?
Yes, You can bill this code along with the e/m to report suture removal. Moreover, there's a HCPCS code S0630 for which HCPCS Official Code Descriptor says "Removal of sutures; by a physician other than the physician who originally closed the wound" which can be used after checking if Payer allows it.
