If operative note states "Suprapatellar pouch, medial and lateral gutters had inflamed synovial portion, ,which was resected. Can this be billed 29876 or is it included in the meniscectomy procedure?
Patient had joint debridement, chondroplasty and lateral meniscectomy with PRP injection.

The 29876 cannot be billed with 29881 unless the synovectomy was completed in separate compartments (in this case: medial and patellofemoral compartments); it must be completely unrelated to the 29881. The meniscectomy and synovectomy were both done in the lateral compartment, so it cannot be billed in this instance.
