Where can i get info in black and white about mod 80,81,82,62 for general surgeons in same practice, in a teaching hospital.............thanks
 
80 Modifier denials- Teaching Hospitals

Help! I need more information regarding our most recent denials from Medicare.
Novitas has denied any services performed at one of our hospital groups when billed with 80 modifier (assistant surgeon). Reason for denial: Novitas is showing that this hospital is registered as a teaching hospital and therefore assist charges are not considered for payment.

We are a large vascular group and our physicians assist each other on different surgical services. They are of the same specialty.
