Can docs in private practice bill as a teaching physician when working with fellows on hospital consults?

Thank you Chelle-lynn, i have read that previously, it doesn't specifically say they have to be employed by the hospital so i assume private practice physicians can bill. I couldn't find anything else on it so i thought i would post the question here.

The definition of a teaching physician is "A teaching physician is a physician other than a resident who involves residents in the care of his or her patients as part of an accredited residency program." So employment by the hospital is not required to bill as a teaching physician.
