Hello -

does anyone know what the proper way to code/bill 68761 tear duct plugs is when done in all eyelids.

Should it be like this

68761 - E2
68761 - E4 51
68761 - E1 51
68761 - E3 51

or

68761 - E1,E2,E3,E4 - qty 4


help would be much appreciated

According to Encoder Pro 68761 is subject to multiple procedure reductions, so it would be inappropriate to bill 68761 on a single line with 4 units because you need to append modifier 51 to 3 of the 4 units submitted. Your first option of how to bill would be appropriate in this case.

The 51 modifier should be placed in front of the E codes since it affects the payment.
