I have a patient that is 16 and pregnant and it was my understanding that teens were high risk. But all the codes in the the ICD9 book are for patients less than 16 when they deliver. I was wondering how everyone else codes teen pregnancies as I am new to OB coding... Thanks!! ;)

As you stated, 659.8x is for less than 16 years of age at time of delivery. If the patient is 16 or older, I don't use it or any other dx. Hope that helps!
