I work for an FQHC. We have a lot of different kinds of providers that do telehealth. My question is if a behavioral health provider sees a patient for telehealth and it starts out as an audio/visual and the connection to the visual gets disconnected and it turns into an audio visit do they need to bill this with one of their regular BH codes or will it be a telephone encounter at that point and be the 99441-99443 codes? And does this apply to all providers? Thanks!

i think if its Medicaid just need to change modifier but if its commercial insurance audio/ video or just audio viist will be same modifier.

We have instructed our providers that more than 50% of the patient-provider portion of the visit must have been completed before the video component failed. If less than 50%, it is an audio only encounter.
