Hello, Can you bill for a Telehealth visit if the provider is not in the office but the patient is? Some of our physicians contracted Covid but still want to see their patients if they present to the office.

Thanks for any help on this matter
 
Hi there, interesting question. Under the COVID-19 waivers I think this is permissible because the provider and patient are in different locations. However, I think CMS would be happiest if both the patient and the physician were at home.

I know HHS has said that it isn't a telehealth visit when the patient and provider are in the same location but the visit takes place via telecomm.
 
I agree. This is telehealth, but likely not the intention of having telehealth.
 
Thank you for your responses. This is a hard one for me, but I don't consider it Telehealth if the patient present to the office.
