For code set 99441-99443 and 98966-98968 I know that per CPT guidelines the service has to be initiated by the patient or guardian but id there a specified time frame for that initiation? For instance the patient calls Monday before the close of clinic but the provider is not able to return the call to the patient until Tuesday morning. Does this constitute as a telephone consult since it was initiated by the patient? Or does the return call have to be made the same day?
