We have a situation at one of our clinics where we have a huge patient load at certain times, so much so that our current staff can't handle the volume, and we have been bringing in other temp providers to help during this time. Am I correct that in order to bill for these services, we would need to credential these providers with the payers? I am asking this question because the site thinks this situation should be billed as a locum tenens arrangment. I say these providers are not locums because they are not actually replacing an absent provider, just helping us with our patient load.
Thoughts?
