Here's a fun one...
elderly pt has a femoral neck fx. This pt also had a larger than expected acetabulum. Pt was given the surgical options of a bipolar vs THA. Pt opted for the THA.

My question is this.. do I bill just 27130 with femur fx? or 27120 for the congenital dx and 27236-51 for the femur fx? OR unlisted?

tia!

I feel if you code 27236 you are undercoding. I would code the THA 27130 and prove medical necessity. Since it is an acute fracture I dont feel 27120 is appropiate.
GOOD LUCK !! ;)
