I need help opn coding peri-aortic lymphadenectomy.
The Surgeon did per-aortic left lymph node diseciton and sent for biopsy.
The description of the CPT code 38572 states; Laparoscopy, surgical; with bilateral total pelvic lymphadenectomy and peri-aortic lymph node sampling (biopsy), single or multiple
Is the CPT code 38572 correct or 38589? I am questionong since the description of the cpt 38572 is stating bialteral lymhadenectomy, and in this case the surgeon operated on the left side only.
