Is there a way to identify 3rd party billing on a Medical Claim? If so where? I have been out of the billing side for a few years and I am drawing a blank

I don't know of any way to identify a 3rd party on a claim. Whether the claim was prepared by the provider or by an outside service is really no concern of a payer and not something they need to know. The provider is ultimately the one responsible for the information on the claim since they're the ones attesting to its accuracy and accepting the payment.

No, because it is not necessary. However, you can bill the 3rd party, if they were at fault. For example, in a motor vehicle accident, if a patient was seen due to injury and there was another party at fault, you can bill the other party automobile insurance for the claim.
