Our IR Radiologist has performed a Thoracentesis on both right and left lobes. Being that the CPT code description doesnt state 1 or 2 lobes, would it be appropriate to code 32421, 32421-59, 76942, 76942-59?

Thanks in advance for any input!

I would agree with reporting 2 units of 32421 however only one unit of 76942. CPT 76942 should only be billed once per patient encounter (Medicare's CCI manual) , it generates an MUE when more than 1 unit is charged on a given date of service.

Hope this helps,
