Surgery 6-3-14: 10 days (6-13) post op office visit after thyroidectomy for thyroid cancer and lymph node metastasis: can we still use the 193 and 196.0?
Recommendation is to see Endocrinology and Radiation Oncology for possible adjuvant treatment; then office visit 7-9 states that her levels are normal and
it also states that they do not feel that there is supportive evidence for adjuvant systemic treatment at this time. Should the cancer still be coded as active for the 7-9 visit or can we only use the follow up dx code? Pt is on thyroid replacement medicine. Thank you!
 
If the visit for the patient is still the management of the thyroid cancer, then it would be coded as such. If the visit indicates there is a history of, then it would be coded as history of and code for what the visit was seen for.
