My radiologist attempted a lumbar puncture but as soon as needle was inserted the patient was no longer able to cooperate due to pain so procedure wasn't actually performed. The doctor sent the report describing the attempted procedure but with a header stating "time standard/diagnostic xr". Is there a CPT code for that or should I bill lumbar puncture with a modifier?
