The resident saw an inpatient for a consult on 1/1/11 at 1500 hours. The Attending saw the patient on 1/2/11 at 1645 hours. I believe the Attending has to see the patient within 24 hours of the resident's documentation in order to accept the resident's documentation for the code. If this is the case, can anyone point me to a link that explains this.

We have asked our local medicare carrier this same question and have not recieved an answer. Hope someone else out there can help but we have this same issue during the holidays.
