The patient underwent a scheduled TLH. Upon examining the patient at the conclusion of the procedure, 2 vaginal lacerations (one perineal and one left posterior lateral) occurred with the insertion of the V-Care manipulator and this was repaired. Both lacerations were closed with running locking sutures. One with 2-0 vicryl and other with 2-0 monocryl.

This was not a scheduled procedure and it was an unintentional/accidental complication that occurred during the scheduled surgery. Do I still code the laceration repair? Do I only code the TLH?

Thank you in advance

I would not code for the lacerations. Basically its like you broke it, you fix it! :)

So if the doctor did the lacerations the repair should be included in the primary procedure.
