What is the correct cpt code for toe amputation at DIP (distal interphalangeal joint).
My physician amputated ...."cut across the tip of the toe near the area of the nail. This was carried sharply through the skin, followed by sharp dissection down to the distal phalanx. The DIP joint was identified and the distal phalanx and attached soft tissue were then amputated."
Is 28825 the correct CPT code for this?? Not sure since it is the distal part of the toe?
