I've been having issues with getting paid when a patient is admitted to our hospital for Inpatient/Observation and their condition changes for the worse requiring them to be transferred to another facility such as Virginia Mason, Yakima Regional, etc. I thought that I was to bill the same day admit/discharge code if it was the same day, but I'm getting denials for those and on appealing they are still denied. What is the appropriate way to bill these services?
