An insurance company said we could only bill this code 1 time for twin pregnancy and denied for 2nd baby even with modifier 51. It does not say in cpt that we can bill for each additional gestation. should this code be billed at all for twins ( I was told by u/s tech this is the procedure they do at 1st trimester for pregnancy).
 
Although you did not write which code is being rejected, perhaps there is an easy answer. Most, not every, OB ultrasound codes now have add-on codes for each additonal gestation.

Perhaps look at the code being denied. If it is the same exact code billed for the first gestation, then the rejection is true and check for an add-on code. If there is no add-on code, then a modifier would be necessary.
