What is the correct modifier to use for subsequent but different surgeries after the initial major global surgery? For example, a simple procedure like an additional CVP or chest tube. They are related to the original surgery, and usually expected or planned, so I’ve started using modifier 58. Is this allowed or even correct? These are trauma, not general. TIA.
