My doctor has started to do Trigger Point Injections for patient with pain issues. This is during there post-op period. Can this be billed?

Thanks for any help!

It depends on your payor and what guidelines they follow...

CPT's Surgical Package- Includes Typical postoperative follow-up care.

Medicare= Includes:
-All additional medical or surgical services required of the physician during the postoperative period of the surgery because of complications not requiring additional trips to the operating room;

-Follow-up visits during the postoperative period of the surgery that are related to recovery from the surgery;
-Postsurgical pain management;

If it's a Medicare patient, it's included in the post-op unless they are taken back to the OR

Non-Medicare...possibly but check their guidelines
