Could someone help me with this? Our surgeon placed a trocar for another surgeon.
OPERATION: TROCAR PLACEMENT.
OPERATIVE FINDINGS: Menometrorrhagia, failed ablation.
I was assisting Dr. A putting in trocar secondary to having a ventral hernia repair with mesh previously.
The patient had already been asleep under general endotracheal anesthesia. The abdomen was prepped and draped. An open technique was used to gain access to abdomen through a left lateral, left lower quadrant incision and a 12 mm. trocar was inserted in this space. Peritoneal cavity with insufflated with 15 mmHg pressure. There was a ventral hernia patch on the anterior abdominal wall just underneath the umbilicus and an infraumbilical incision was made. Another 12 mm. port was placed under direct visualization to enter the peritoneum just inferior to the lower edge of the mesh. Another trocar was placed 5 mm. in the right lower quadrant.
