After informed consent adequate anesthesia patient placed in dorsolithotomy position penoscrotal perineum prepped benign solution sterilely draped 21 French cystoscope was introduced anterior urethra found to be normal at the bladder neck a large bladder tumor was visualized covering the left part of the median lobe and the bladder neck up to approximately 11:00 after resecting this the tumor was seen to progress up obscuring the entire left side of the trigone no orifice could be visualized the entire. The entire tumor was resected circumferentially cauterized and bladder irrigated free of chips due to the resection of the prostate on the left side and it was felt best to not put any chemotherapy in at this time

Besides a TURBT code, would it be reasonable to also code 52601, resection of prostate? Or would it just be considered part of the TURBT?

Thank you!

I don't see any documentation here to indicate that the provider performed a resection of the prostate during this procedure. It sounds to me like perhaps the provider is mentioning that a prostate resection had previous been perform on this patient, which was affecting his decision on how to proceed with the bladder tumor resection. Perhaps you should query the provider for clarification.
