The patient was admitted under our doctor as primary care doctor, The patient was critical so the critical doctor was called for consult. Medicaid paid the critical doctor, but not our doctor. What modifier do I need to use so that our doctor gets paid too.

Were they both in your practice and are they of different specialties?

No. They are in different practices Yes our doctor is Cardiologist and the consulting doctor is Critical specialist.

So you billed a 99221, 99222, or 99223 with an AI modifier? I'm not sure if your state's Medicaid accepts the AI - every state is different.
