What ICD9 Code for this? The pathology report states uncertain significance of the sample from a FNA of the Thyroid.
I can't really find anything definitive on behavior vs significance. Need some expert help!
the report does not clearly state Unspecified behaivor (237.4) , but we are to use the Unspecified sparingly, right? (239.7)
Rare poorly preserved epithelial appearing cells of uncertain significance.
These cells are not clearly neoplastic, and benign cells would be included in the differential. Since these cells are so few in quantity and they are poorly preserved, the origin or significance of these cells is difficult to determine.
