We are looking for an expert in esophagel lap surgery coding. We have a physician that generaly uses the unlisted code 43289 when he is re-doing a fundoplication that is no longer working and then does a repair of recurrent hiatal hernia and takedown Nissen fundoplication.

Does anyone have documentation on this that they can share?

We generally use 43280 on re-do's, with a -22 if the additional procedures and/or time/effort/difficulty warrant it and are well-documented.
