Does anyone know anything about Urgent Care coding? The insurance company is saying the visit I am working would be paid if it was coded with an emergency code. Is there a separate set of codes for Urgent Care Centers or do I use ER codes?:confused:

Urgent Code billing

Hello.
I do billing for Urgent Care and we do not use Emergency Department codes because do not meet the requirements. You use regular E/M codes.
The problem might be because of the facility location you selected.

Urgent care billing

We are billing for an urgent care. We also use the E/M codes with place of service 20. CMS came out with a few G codes to use for urgent care billing however none of the insurance companies are recognizing these. Hope this helps.
