My provider did an IRRIGATION AND DEBRIDEMENT SCROTAL ABSCESS, EXPLORATION AND REMOVAL OF RIGHT TESTICULE under anesthesia inpatient hospital.
The patient was given general anesthesia and prepped and draped in sterile fashion. An incision was made with a #15 blade scalpel and there was an immediate rush of purulent drainage. This was cultured. The skin and tissues were quite edematous. The testicle was freed and examined and the infection appeared to have eroded through the tunica capsule and the seminiferous tubules were visible. The testicle was damaged beyond repair and the decision was made to perform and orchiectomy. Kelly clamps were placed to the spermatic cord and the mayo scissors were used to remove the testicle. The cored was ligated using 2-0 silk suture without difficulty. We irrigated the wound copiously. Hemostasis was maintained. The would was packed using betadine soaked gauze and and ABD dressing and scrotal support were applied. This concluded the procedure.
