Wiki US for size, dates, gestation

I am trying to obtain clarification on the correct coding for an initial OB ultrasound to confirm size/dates/gestation.

I have been using the code v28.3 (encounter for routine fetal US).

I have been told that the correct code should be 649.63 (size/dates discrepancy).

I don't feel like this is right unless the patient is unsure of their LMP and there really is a date discrepancy.

Any help would be appreciated.

You are correct unless there is a discrepancy documented it is just routine so use the V code
