Coding a thoracic surgery, but it is performed in the global period of a surgery performed by a cardiac surgeon in the same group. Does the thoracic surgeon's codes require a 78 modifier? :confused:

No. The global surgery modifiers are only needed if both surgeries are performed by the same surgeon/same specialty.
