Good morning,
I hope someone can help me. I would like to know when to use the severe code, I know it has to be linked to an organ dysfunction. For example my trainer told me if the doctor put under the assessment sepsis, AKI I can use the severe code A41.9, R65.20, N17.9, however, if the doctor says sepsis, AKI, lactic acidosis in separates line I cannot code the severe sepsis since I cannot assume the AKI and lactic acidosis is associated with the sepsis. So I am confused when to use it or not. Also I have been tell that I can use R65.20 with I95.9 but I am doubting since there is not organ dysfunction associated. Can someone explain to me please I will appreciate it.
