Soft tissue ultrasound performed to evaluate for: abscess
Using the high-frequency linear probe covered in tegaderm, the area of skin in question was evaluated and demonstrated:
subcutaneous fluid collection, measuring 4.5mm x 5mm, color flow confirms no vascular involvement. Pressure with probe confirms modbility of contents under color flow and collapsibility of lesion.
Medical Decision Making:
small subcutaneous abscess that may an infected cyst. no indication at this time to I&D. will do conservative treatment with warm soaks and keflex and provide phone number to surgery clinic. can f/u with Dr. x in the interim.
