I know you can only bill for a locum for 60 days of service...however, how long AFTER a physician has left your practice (retired) can you start using a locum? Surely there has to be a time limit, I can't use the # of a physician that isn't practicing elsewhere a year later...can I? We had an MD retire in Feb 2011...we've been recruiting but have been unable to hire - we want to bring in a locum for 60 days to help with volumes.
What's the timeline on how long you can use another departed physicians billing information?
