Hello,
I'm hoping that you can clarify and help me understand this a little better. I have a patient that's coming in for routine OB and UTI, would I code a
1.complication code 2.O23 3.Z3A? Or 1.023. 2.Z3A.
If I code a complication code wouldn't that have to follow the patient for the remainder of the pregnancy?

Your insight would be extremely appreciated.

UTI during Pregnancy

Hi

I would code the range of O23.40 - O23.43, because in the O23.3 section, it states: use additional code to identify organism. If the note states what caused the infection, then I would code O23.3, but if not I would use O23.4 for unspecified infection of the urinary tract. I hope this helps.
