Our oncology dept wants us to use V58.12 for Neupogen administration. Is this appropriate? HELP! Is Neupogen really an encounter for antineoplastic immunotherapy

No this is incorrect. It is not antineoplastic at all. I t a drug use for a decrease in the patients blood counts caused usually by the chemo. An example of antineoplastic immunotherapy would be JWCI for melanolma.

v58.12

Thank you, that is what I tried to tell them. I am not going to use this code because in my opinion and that of others it is not correct usage of this code.

You can always look up Neupogen in the PDR and highlight the indications for usage as well as the drug descrition will clearly show it is not antineoplastic.
