Can these two codes be the only codes assigned to a record for the lab test such as a PT/INR or Lithium Level or do we need to have the code for the reason the patient is on the medication? Thank you.
 
we always code the reason secondary - odd, on the Vcode table it says that V58.6x is "add'l dx only" -V58.8x says can be used as 1st or add'l.. however in the Tabular list it states that (6) these V codes are acceptable as preincipal dx and group to DRGs 949-950
