Could someone please explain when it is proper to use V72.6 (Laboratory examination excludes that for suspected disorder (V71.0 - V71.9)?

Talking to the people I work with, there are two possible answers: 1. use it when the patient is being seen for an office visit and blood or urine is collected and examined. OR 2. it is the actual examination that is being coded; not the collection of the specimen. Therefore, the code would only be used by the lab analyzing the specimen (i.e. Quest, LabCorp, etc.)

Or, is it neither one?

Any advice anyone can give me is appreciated! Thanks :)
