What can be done if anything. We have some of our ped doc's wondering if there is anything we can bill when they do vaccine counseling and for what ever reason child does not receive their vaccination that day. I have searched high and low and have come accross nothing anybody have any ideas? Thanks
 
Is this being done in conjunction with a preventative office visit or are the parents coming in just to talk about vaccines?

In this case I would recommend coding based on time. Make sure it's documented of course. But that goes without saying.

Outside of that, look at the following ICD-9CM codes.

V64.00 - V64.09, these are secondary ICD-9CM, so find the reason why the patient didn't get the vaccine and use that as your primary.

Or you can use (V65.49 other specified counseling), this stands alone.

So your charge would look like.

992XX- V65.49 or the other DX's
