This is the most heartbreaking chartnote I've ever read, and I need some help. I've greatly paraphrased it, but the gist of it is:
Intrauterine pregnancy at 27 weeks with placental abruption. Fetus not viable.
The body of this baby was delivered vaginally with inadvertent decapitation and retention of the fetal head in the cervix and lower uterine segment. The procedure was then turned to C-section with delivery of the fetal head and placenta.
I am assuming that this will be coded as a c-section?
Any help is appreciated.
