I have a questions regarding what or if you bill anything for placing the vanco-beads. The podiatrist windows out the metetarsal bone and then currets out the bone and packs it with vanco-beads. He then puts the bone window back on and closes the patient. We have always just coded the 28005.
This is done as an outpatient surgery and the "hospital" side wants to bill 28005 and 11981 for the placing of the vanco-beads. I don't feel this code is appropriate. Does anyone else bill that?
