Would you use Z51.11 Chemotherapy or Z51.12 Immunotherapy for Velcade.

We code this as Z51.11 as chemotherapy.

Per the Velcade website, Velcade is form of chemotherapy.

There are treatment options with monoclonal antibodies for multiple myeloma but Velcade is not one. Most monoclonal antibodies have 'mab' at the end of their generic name. That is a good way of knowing they are immunotherapy. Drugs whose names end in 'mib' are chemotherapy.
