Could someone please advise me on the parameters for billing venom immunotherapy? I work for an allergist and we are having a great deal of trouble with it.

So, if a person is in venom induction (weekly injections, building up), what codes would you use? Do you use the 95131-95134 (based upon how many venoms they get)? Sometimes they get 3 injections of each of these during induction at one visit. So, for example, if they had five different venoms (white faced hornet, yellow jacket, honey bee, wasp and yellow hornet)...they get during induction 3 small doses of each dilution (for a total of 15 injections). Would you bill the 95134 x 15? Does this include the injection and extract?

Additionally, once they reach their maintenance venom dose of 1cc of each and only come monthly. The way we have been doing it is billing for the extract when made and then just the admin of the injections each time they come. So, for a person with five venoms, we bill the 95117 (multiple injections). The extract would have already been billed when made with the 95149 x 15 (as there are three units in each vial).

Are we completely off?
