My providers are family practice. We have patients which will become eligible for Medicare Part B. They will eligible to bill code G0402 "Welcome to Medicare". I have informed them that visual acuity screening must be documented on exam, not a referral.
Does anyone have this issue? Can a referral for visual acuity fulfill the requirement for G0402?

Thank you

According to the CMS Medlearn article at https://www.cms.gov/Outreach-and-Ed...entive-services/medicare-wellness-visits.html, the following examination elements are required.
Measure:
Height, weight, body mass index (BMI) (or waist circumference, if appropriate), blood pressure, balance, and gait
Visual acuity screen
Other factors deemed appropriate based on medical and social history and current clinical standards

Hope that helps,
Cindy
