Needing some information with Well Child Medicaid question: if the baby is born at the same hospital that providers are contracted at and they see the baby for their first Well child visit, would they be new or est., has anyone come across this before?
Thank you

Did the providers see the baby in the hospital or is the WC visit the first encounter with the patient? If they saw the baby in the hospital then it would be an established patient but if they didn't see the child then it should be a new patient.

They would be considered established because you have already provided a professional service for the child. If they were to have received no professional services from you, or another physician of the same specialty who belongs to the same group practice, within the past three years, then they would be new. Same applies when you are on call and you see a patient and then they follow up with you at your office, they are established because you already seen them and performed your professional service during the hospital stay.
