We have just hired a wellness counselor. One of her duties is smoking cessation. She is a certified tobacco counselor. She has no other clinical certifications.


My question is if one of our providers refers the pt to her to do the tobacco counseling. Can we bill 99406/99407 under their number. Is this considered other qualiifed health care professional.

The payors do not have guidelines for these codes.
