An Established patient calls and speaks the the MA, saying she thinks she may have a UTI. The provider okays the patient to come in and simply leave a urine sample, which is then sent off to the lab.
The lab results return and confirm a UTI, and the provider sends orders to the pharmacy and tells the MA to call the patient and inform her.
What can the provider charge in this scenario? They did not see the patient face to face, and in fact, never even spoke to the patient. Everything was coordinated through the MA and phone notes.
Thank you!
